Warren Stout - Leading Knight
Hi, I'm Warren Stout, I have
supported personal lines insurance for 6
years and food service for 20 years. I
specialize in data management and continuous
improvement, as well as not giving people
food poisoning. When I'm not insuring or
cooking, you can find me bartending at our
Elks Lodge, taking care of my family,
sewing, and gardening. I’m proud to support
the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks!
Lynn Hurd - Loyal Knight
I grew up on
the North side of Spokane and worked
during high school at the Downtown
Elks Lodge #228. I was hired out
of college to work at an electronics
firm in Portland, Oregon where I spent
38 years building, installing, and
instructing how to use our products,
sometimes halfway around the
world. Then I retired back to
Spokane with my wife Susan and our 2
small dogs. I have been a member
of Lodge #228 for 40 years and I am
also a life member. I enjoy
electronics including Amateur Radio.
Paul Ryan - Lecturing
Knight
A simple life story for a
simple man. I lived on the east
coast and Asia until 1992. Attended
7 different schools before
graduating from High school in
Maryland. I have a degree in
Philosophy from U of Md. I taught
High school math, then Preschoolers
with developmental delays, taught
outdoor skills to adults with
intellectual challenges, and
climbing to adults with physical
challenges. I worked at a wildlife
park training elephants and lions,
then a zookeeper at the Baltimore
Zoo for three years, before
returning to teaching.
Met
Laura as we were teaching an
adaptive canoeing class.We
got married in 1991 and moved to
Spokane a year later, for me to get
a degree in Recreation Therapy at
EWU. Thought the move was temporary,
but still live here, and raised 4
kids, we will welcome our 3rd
grandchild in June. I briefly taught
at EWU, worked at the Primate
research center in Medical lake.
Then I started at Lakeland in
1996, became the contact for
community organizations in 1999, I
had the pleasure of working with all
the volunteer groups who serve the
residents of Lakeland.The
Elks have a long history of
involvement with Lakeland, I
coordinated the events the Elks
presented to Lakeland residents. and
after retirement in 2020, it was my
plan to join the Elks, the pandemic
delayed my plans for a bit.
Laura and I travel a bit,
several times a year to the east
coast, and about every year to
somewhere that I have to drive on
the left side of the road. We
currently live outside of Medical
Lake, on Clear Lake.

I am a Life Member with 37 years as an

Commissioner with the Federal Mediation and
Conciliation Service after mediating labor
disputes for nearly 30 years. I have
mediated many diverse disputes from Iowa, to
Oregon and most states in between. I
have held numerous Offices and served on a
number of committees as an Elk, including
Lodge Secretary, Trustee, and Board
Chairman. I am a Missouri native and
my wife Ann and I have lived in the Spokane
area for nearly 40 years.
As a long time Elk member I
have been blessed in being in the right
place at the right time. My Healthcare

positions I now hold in the Elks. I became a
member in the Elks in OR before transferring
to the Lodge in Moses Lake. From there I was
selected as a District Deputy Grand Exalted

appointed me as the District Leader for
WA-East District in 2015. On the Grand Lodge
level I have been on the GL Fraternal
Committee for 3 years and am currently the
Chairman of that committee. Now living in
Spokane I transferred to the Greater Spokane
Lodge in 2022.
